THE ASK
LEGO wanted to craft a docu-style story that would feel at home on CNN, Great Big Story, and Cartoon Network. The goal was to highlight a product line called LEGO Technics and to appeal to kids, their parents, and adult LEGO enthusiasts alike. Emphasizing the “stunts” the cars could perform was essential. And it all had to be filmed while the world was in pandemic lockdown.

THE FILM
After pitching the idea of a film starring a real-life stunt person piqued the client’s interest, the search for the perfect character began. We landed on Rick Fike, an action sequence choreographer for numerous hit action films (he’s been in several himself, too). The real win, though, was the fact that Rick told us he used miniature vehicles and other small props to act out his stunt sequences prior to choreographing them. He was a shoe-in. I worked with a crew remotely and pulled off a shoot that had plenty of heart— and some epic LEGO stunts as well.
